About PDF to Images

Extracting PDF pages as images is useful when you need to share a single page without sending the full document, embed a PDF slide in a presentation or web page, create thumbnails for a document preview, or convert a page into an editable graphic for redesign work. Adobe Acrobat can do it but requires a paid subscription. Cloud converters upload your file to a server — a serious concern for confidential documents, contracts, and legal files.

How the PDF to Images tool works

VIPToolkit's PDF to Images tool uses PDF.js to render each PDF page directly onto an HTML5 canvas, then exports as JPG (maximum compatibility), PNG (lossless, supports transparency), WebP (smallest file size for web use), or AVIF (next-gen compression). Choose from three resolution presets:

  • 72 DPI — screen previews and thumbnails
  • 144 DPI — general use, sharp on screen
  • 216 DPI — print-ready, high detail

Select specific pages or convert all, then download as a ZIP archive. Everything renders in your browser — your PDF never touches a server.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Yes. Unlike text extraction, page rendering works on any PDF including scanned documents, because it renders the visual content of each page as an image rather than extracting a text layer.

Going the other way? Combine images back into a document with Images to PDF.
