Large PDF files are a problem: they clog email inboxes, fail upload limits on portals, and slow down document workflows. Adobe Acrobat can compress them, but it requires a paid subscription. Cloud tools compress them, but they upload your file to a third-party server — a serious privacy risk for contracts, medical records, tax documents, and anything confidential.

How the PDF Compressor works

VIPToolkit's PDF Compressor re-renders every page of your PDF using the PDF.js engine at your chosen resolution, then re-encodes each page as a compressed JPEG and packs them back into a new PDF using the pdf-lib library. Everything happens in your browser — your file never leaves your device.

How much will the file size reduce?

It depends on the content. Image-heavy PDFs compress the most: - **Screen preset**: typically 60–80% size reduction — best for readable digital sharing - **eBook preset**: balanced quality, typically 40–60% reduction - **Print preset**: sharp text and images, typically 20–40% reduction - **Custom mode**: expose DPI and JPEG quality sliders for precise control

Important: text will not be selectable after compression

The compressor converts PDF pages to JPEG images embedded in the output PDF. Text in the compressed PDF becomes part of the image and cannot be selected, copied, or searched.
