PDF Compressor

Large PDF files are a problem: they clog email inboxes, fail upload limits on portals, and slow down document workflows. Adobe Acrobat can compress them, but it costs money. Cloud tools compress them, but they upload your file to a third-party server — a risk for contracts, medical records, and anything confidential.

VIPToolkit's PDF Compressor re-renders every page of your PDF using the PDF.js engine at your chosen resolution, then re-encodes each page as a compressed JPEG and packs them back into a new PDF using the pdf-lib library. Everything happens in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

Three presets cover the most common needs: Screen quality for the smallest files when you just need to share something readable; eBook quality for a balanced result that still looks clean on most screens; and Print quality for documents where fine text and sharp images matter. A Custom mode exposes the resolution (DPI) and JPEG quality sliders directly if you want precise control.

Note: this compressor converts PDF pages to JPEG images embedded in the output PDF. Text in the output will not be selectable (it is rendered as an image). For documents that need selectable text, use a lower-compression preset to preserve legibility, and keep the original for editing.
